We’ve been reading a lot of good books around here this month. Some books are for school, some are for the book club I belong to and some are just because. I’ve listed what the kids are reading first and then what I’m reading last.
Autumnblings by Douglas Florian With it being fall and all, I started pulling out books about leaves and autumn and pumpkins, of course. I found this little gem, a book of poems,. The illustrations were great, too.
Library Lion by Michelle Knudsen This was such splendid surprise! We have been focusing on the letter L for preschool with Little H. After some pinteresting and preschool blog scouring, I came across this title. It was actually Lily who really enjoyed it. It was more on her interest level (First Grade). Henry liked the pictures of the lion, though. I just loved the story. Please read this book!
Leo the Late Bloomer by Robert Kraus I think this is a pretty well known book. I hadn’t read it in so long. The kids really enjoyed this one.
These next two are definitely for the little ones. Because we were focusing on the letter L, as I mentioned earlier, I checked these out of the library for Little H. He enjoyed them both, especially the Llama book.
Lost! by David McPhail
Mama Llama Red Pajama by Anna Dewdney
Mouse Soup by Arnold Lobel We use All About Reading for Lil’s reading cirriculum. It has readers that go along with the cirriculum; but we read a lot of other books as well. She’s been reading this aloud to the Hubs and I this past week and loving it.
The Borrowers by Mary Norton Lil and I just started this as our before bed read aloud.
Now on to the books I’m reading:The Memory Keeper’s Daughter by Kim Edwards I’m not very far in the book yet to give it a thorough review. Though book club is this weekend, so I better get on it. So far, I really like it.
Don’t Waste Your Life by John Piper I’m not very far in this book yet; but I think I have just about every other line highlighted. It’s exactly what I needed to read right now.
7 by Jen Hattmaker This book really shouldn’t be last on my list because it’s my favorite on the list. It’s really been a life changer for me. This book is making me rethink a lot things about my own christian walk. A few lines won’t do this book justice. I think a whole post in the future is necessary. I highly recommend this book.
