My TEN Favorites:: Christmas Children Books

I have two little ones. So a lot of the reading I do during Christmas is to them. We’ve been reading one Christmas picture book a day since December 1st. The last one, we will read on Christmas day.

They really enjoy it. I think I enjoy it as much as they do.  From years of being an elementary school teacher and my love of books (My happy place is Barnes and Nobles.), I have quite a stash. These are 10 of my favorites.

If you haven’t read the two previous My TEN Favorite posts, read them here and here.

1. Christmas Cookies by Amy Krouse Rosenthal

I posted this one on my face book page the other day because it has become one of my favorites. That’s why it is at the top of my list.

2. The Nutcracker

To say my little Lulu loves ballet is kind of an understatement. We love the Nutcracker and have gone to see it the last two years. We are going again on Sunday. So, this year we read three different versions.  Her favorite was the one written by Mary Engelbreit. I couldn’t choose! I really liked the ones written by Spinner and Jeffers.

3. 12 Days of Christmas illustrated by David Delamare

I got this book the first year I taught 3rd grade from a parent. That was many, many moons ago. I love the whimsical illustrations in this one.

4. Snowmen at Christmas by Caralyn Buehner

This is cute and funny. Very original.

5. The Year of the Perfect Christmas Tree by Gloria Houston

This is one of my faves, too!!

6. God Gave Us Christmas by Lisa Tawn Bergren

I don’t own this one; but really need to buy it. It’s very sweet especially if you have real little ones.

7. Home for Christmas by Jan Brett

I love just about anything by Jan Brett. I love this story because this troll is so very naughty; but learns a very valuable lesson.

8. J is for Jesus by Crystal Bowman

I’m saving this book for Christmas day!

9. The Crippled Lamb by Max Lucado

Oh my, this is such a sweet book. I’ve this for yearss and read it every year.

10. The Legend of the Candy Cane by Lori Walburg

Love the story and the illustrations.

I’ve got one more post in My TEN Favorites series coming soon!

Happy Reading!
