2014 has been a really great year. It’s had it’s ups and downs to be sure. There has been sadness and dark days; but there have been more happy than sad. There have been disappointments and there have been moments of sheer joy. I’ve reached some milestones in my life as has my family. There have been surprises and unexpected blessings. There’s been a lot of smiles and laughter. Through it all, God has been so faithful and good.
This Year I:
Got to spend another year being a mom and wife to my three favorite people.
Transitioned from Sock Monkey Tales to The Accidental Domestic. The change was good for me. I’ve been a lot more excited and consistent in my blogging since I made the switch.
Completed my first year of home schooling. It wasn’t at all what I expected. It wasn’t always easy; but I decided to do it again, happily.
Potty trained my last child. I was dreading it and trying to avoid it. (High schoolers can wear diapers, right?) I did it. It’s done. And it was much easier than my first. I’m dancing by the way.
Turned 40! I was dreading it and trying to avoid it. So, I had a super big party with one of my best friends. It was the best 40 I could imagine.
Had Vertigo. The week I turned 40, my world began to spin, literally. I couldn’t drive for three weeks. Let’s move on. That was not a fun part of my year.
Had my first Mammogram. It wasn’t that bad.
Had to start dyeing my hair. Arghh!!! Thank you, getting older.
This Year Our Family:
Completed our first year as the wife and kids of a police officer. I’m extremely proud of The Hubs. I really can’t put into words just how proud I am of him. He knows, though, and that’s really what matters.
It was a year of a lot of transition, for everyone. We had a whole new routine to get used to and way of life, really. This has been a long and sometimes difficult road for my husband. He persevered and handled everything in stride.
If you had asked me 5 years ago what my husband’s dream job was I would have said anything but be a police officer. The first time he told me of his interest in law enforcement, I think I just stared blankly at him. He might as well have said he wanted to fly a shuttle into space and walk on the moon. It was not anything I would have imagined him wanting to do. Yet, here we are. And the best thing is he absolutely loves his job. That makes this wife pretty darn happy.
Said good-bye to our 12 year old puppy, Jackson. I hated writing that sentence just now. I actually didn’t blog about this on purpose. It was too sad for me. I loved that rascal of a dog. And he was a rascal! I hate it that I didn’t get to put up his stocking this year.
I’ve realized there are dog people and people who aren’t dog people. The dog people are crying with me right now, because you get it. The non-dog people are wondering why I’m not over it yet and “didn’t you get a new dog already?”
Went to Disneyland for a whole week. It was hot and crazy. It was so much fun.
Welcomed two new members into our family. My beautiful niece, who is one of my most favorite people in this world, married a very sweet, handsome young man. I can’t believe she’s married and I can’t believe I’m old enough to have a niece who’s married! Seeing her on her happiest of days was one of my happiest days.
My sister – in – law, who is like my real actual sister, got engaged very recently. Her Hubs To Be is a cute red head who sings and plays the guitar. He loves the Lord and he is sooooo good with our kids. He’s going to make an awesome uncle. Oh, and he loves the Giants. So that’s a bonus.
There you have it. Thanks for reading here in my little space. I’m excited about sharing more about this “not so accidental” life with you in 2015,
