It’s Monday and the start of a brand new week. I thought I would do a little update on how I’m doing with spending less time on my phone and on Face Book. The start of the week is the perfect time to reflect on last week, what went well and what didn’t go so well.
I’m going to be honest (as well I should be). I have been spending less time checking my phone and Face Book. I haven’t been doing as well as I envisioned, though. It’s hard to break a bad habit!
Here is what has worked for me:
- Not checking my phone first thing in the morning. (and therefore, not checking Face Book) I realized it wasn’t something I needed to do so much as just a habit. My phone is my alarm clock, so it took a few mornings of catching myself in that area.
- Leaving my phone on the kitchen counter where it gets charged. I could still check it when I walked through the kitchen (which is all day!), so it was hard not to do. I gave in a time or two. Not having it right next to me did help, though. I did more texting and waiting for replies than checking my Face Book or email.
What I didn’t do so well:
- Having a set time to be on the computer and setting a time limit for using it. This is where I need improvement. I’m on the computer quite a bit this month because I’m doing a lot of writing and it’s so tempting to take a mental break and just skip on over to Face Book. My 5 minute break always turns into much longer!
I think this next week will be even better than last so, I’m going to keep at it and kick those time bandits in the keester!
