What We Are Reading This Month:: A Year of Favorites

Our family is doing a ton of reading this month. We are unwrapping and reading one Christmas picture book a day. We are also trying out a new advent book this month, Jesse’s Tree. We are reading a short chapter from this book each day. I am posting each picture book we read on Instagram daily and you can follow me there. (Click here to follow.)

I’m in the midst of a few books right now. I have about 3 books going at any one time. But I did stumble upon this gem at the library last week. I’m getting awfully inspired to do some major decluttering.

Seeing as 2015 is almost  done, I thought I’d do a round up of all the books I’ve read this year, mostly book club books, and declare my favorites. The * indicate book club picks.

The Best Yes by Lysa TerKeurst (Technically, I read this book in 2014; but I reread it in 2015.)

*Snow Falling on Cedars by David Guterson

*Wonder by R.J. Palacio

*Serena by Ron Rash

*Still Alice by Lisa Genova

*The Residence by Kate Andersen Brower (It wasn’t until I compiled this list that I realized I hadn’t finished this one  yet. I really enjoyed it, too. So, I need to finish this one.)

*Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel

Don’t Make Me Count To Three by Ginger Hubbard (Technically, I am almost done with this book.)

Your German Shepherd by Liz Palika

Where’d You Go, Bernadette?  by Maria Semple

The Nesting Place by Myquillyn Smith

*The Scarlet Pimpernell by Baroness Orczy

* The Memory Keeper’s Daughter by Kim Edwards

My favorite books that I read this year are……. The Nesting Place  and  Where’d You Go, Bernadette?  The Runner Ups were Wonder and The Scarlet Pimpernell.

It’s been a great year reading some wonderful literature that brought me joy and made me think. I’m looking forward to another year of discovering some new and wonderful books.
