A Cozy Crafternoon: 31 Day Writing Challenge Day 15: Unhurried Joy

I’ve fallen a little behind in my 31 Day Writing Challenge. I was trying to catch up and write multiple posts a day; but realized that was silly and not a good use of my time. So, I’m going to pick up from where I left off and just do my best.

Here’s the story of the unexpected Cozy Crafternoon.

After a ridiculously hot beginning to October, I woke up to an overcast Saturday morning with the promise of rain. H’s soccer game wasn’t until noon which meant a slow morning. Thank you and hallelujah.

It seemed like the promise of rain was just that, a wish. I was a little bummed but this overcast, cool morning was just what this fall loving lady had been dreaming of.

Just as H’s game began, it started to rain. We had come to the game sans hoods or umbrellas. I didn’t mind though and we didn’t get that wet. When we got home, it occured to me that I had no pressing plans. Andy had to work a four hour shift in the early evening. The kids moved on to their things they were doing on their own (in the house). With Andy leaving and the kids occupied, I realized I had every ingredient for the perfect cozy crafternoon.

Nobody needed me for anything. Check.

It was a misty overcast day. Check.

I had the soft glow of twinkly lights glowing on the mantle with the late afternoon sun pouring through my living room window. Check.

We were inbetween meal times. Check.

There was a cozy blanket and an embroidery project with my name on it. Check.

Lily did end up joining me on the couch much to my delight.

So with the next Harry Potter movie qued up (I’ve been rewatching them while I fold clothes.), a cozy blanket, tea with lemon, and embroidery in hand, I had the best cozy crafternoon.. Oh, I forgot to mention a very snuggly Mac curled up between Lil and I.

An unexpected joyful and slow afternoon.
